My First Carving

I discovered Letterboxing quite by accident on the Internet one Sunday afternoon in November, 2008.  I was intrigued, but I didn't want to spend money to invest in carving tools unless I felt I could eventually become a carver.

Following a how-to tip, I took a No. 2 pencil, removed the eraser and crimped the metal band into a V shape.  I used a block eraser I had on hand and carved this first image.  Although it was rough, I believed it demonstrated that I could, eventually, become a carver.  Thus begins my story...
