AQ Carve #51: Don't Kill Our Wild Life. My first layered-stamp LTC! This carve was for the WPA Poster Swap. I had a hard time getting the four stamps to line up. I stamped the lighter color woods, then the car/tree, then the headlights, then the deer. And a 5th stamp completed the poster lettering.
AQ Carve #52: Light the Hanukkia. A VERY complicated LTC to put together! I carved and stamped the hand holding the candle on beige cardstock, fussy- cutting them out. I had to make numerous measurements to figure exactly where to fold, where to hole-punch, and where to cut out the candle spots. I stamped the candles, colored them, mounted a yellow candle dish, and did all sorts of inside work on the card. Finally, I carved and stamped the yellow greating, Hanukkah Sameach! The ribbon pulls the yellow flame out to "light" a candle for the number of days you are celebrating...
AQ Carve #53: Norman Rockwell-He's Going to be Taller Than Dad. This LTC was a little ambitious for my talents! It was definitely a challenge!
AQ Carve #54: LTC Jackpot! This LTC was carved for the "My Creation" swap. The theme could be anything, and I had had my eye on this picture for a while. I decided to depict a mailbox full to overflowing with the best kind of mail possible--LTCs! I got permission from all the letterboxers featured, and scanned some of the easiest to see, because I had to reduce them to a VERY small size... The Letterboxers are listed on the back of the card, so you'll have to just see if you know your Letterboxers! Do you have any of their cards yourself?
AQ Carve #55: You've Got Mail - Charlie Brown & Snoopy. What is it about me and mailboxes?!! I loved this one. It was fun from start to finish. I enjoy trying to find just the right combination of embellishments for each card...not too many, but something just to touch it up. I had some small hearts, so in addition to the three carved hearts, I glued the fourth on in the corner. And Snoopy is such a loyal, loving dog. What a great gift!
AQ Carve #56: NCCAT Gets Introduced to Letterboxing As a teacher, I went to NCCAT for a week. One of the projects we had to do had some flexibility as to the type, so I chose to carve an LTC, hide a letterbox and present Letterboxing to the group. (I actually never hid the box... but here's the carve! It's their logo...)
AQ Carve # 57: A Pod of Dolphins. This swap sounds intriguing..."A Group of Animals"....examples given were a "litter of puppies, a herd of deer, a flock of birds...I chose to do a pod of dolphins. I'd love to be there right now, wouldn't you?
AQ Carve #58-60 (3 LTCs): Orca Trio at Moonlight; Orca Trio on Black; Orca Trio on White. This stamp had so much potential...I used it for two different swaps: For Under the Sea, the LTC was entitled Orca Trio at Moonlight. For Reflections, they were called Orca Trio on White and Orca Trio on Black.
AQ Carve #61: Mosaic del Mar. I enjoyed doing this one, perhaps because it was so much simpler than the previous one! Two stamps, one repeated multiple times...
AQ Carve #62: Thufferin Thuccotash! Minus a few tail feathers, Tweetie is still OK! (The yellow "feathers" in his mouth are actually small bits of yellow yarn--shhh! Don't tell anyone!)
AQ Carve #64: Stained Glass Birdhouse in my Window.
I joined this swap because my granddaughters Super S and Foxy Girl both wanted to join. I thought it would be fun for the three of us to each carve an image. This one was very time-consuming, from cutting out the window "panes", to attaching the "wire", to the embossing and coloring. But I really like the end result!
AQ Carve #65: Revelation 1:18 The scripture reads, "I am the Living One; I was dead and behold I Am alive for ever and ever! And I hold the keys of death and Hades."Several people have asked me about the background. I used Twinkling H2Os, sold by LuminArte. It creates a metallic, swirling color...very effective for the "Hades" background...
AQ Carve #66: Designer... Trendy... Distinctive... Vintage Fiber Art. RETIRED
AQ #67: Designer... Trendy... Distinctive... Vintage The whole theme of this swap revolved around doing something with Fiber Arts. Thus, the knitted purse, and some stamps to add to the collection. I used "Black Sparkle" embossing powder, but I'm not sure if the glitter showed up in the scan. The 1st version is limited edition, but I have another "unlimited" version without the knitting. Instead, there is some lettering.
AQ Carve #69: Red Bellied Woodpecker. This is for the Birds2 swap. I love to see these woodpeckers around my back yard. I don't see them very often. The name seems strange, since their bellies aren't red. But the true "red-headed woodpecker" has a totally red head all the way down to the neckline.
AQ Carve #70: Mary Poppins: Jolly Holiday. This is a 3 1/2 x 5" card, folded to the standard size. I used 3-D dots to make the lambs pop out.
AQ Carve #71: Classic Cars: VW Beetle
AQ Carve #72: Buggs n Bouquets. This one is a limited edition.
AQ Carve #73: She Sells Seashells...and Sea Oats. I used a store-bought stamp for the lettering. The seashells are a new carve, and I reused the oats from the "Down By the Seashore" LTC.
AQ Carve #74: Countries of the World-Spain. Here is a tri-fold card. The map with the toro and matador is the inner part of the card, while the other two, the flamenco dancer and Don Quijote with Sancho Panza fold over it to create the card.
AQ Carve #75: Birdcage: Fly Away Free! The birdcage is the stamp; the leaves are actually part of the paper design, and I cut the parrotsout to glue them on. One is inside the cage, and the other is experiencing FREEDOM!
