AQ Carve #101: Disney Princesses: Rapunzel. Rapunzel was a fun card. I created the frame to fit a hole punch I already had. To get her hair to leave the picture, I stamped her on white cardstock, then razor-cut around the base of the ponytail, sliding the purple into it. What a coy look she has!
AQ Carve #102: Disney Heroes: Flynn. Rapunzel's love interest and his many moods...
AQ Carve #103: Fair Days: Poultry Judging. I never visited the livestock or poultry areas at the fairs as a child, but I recently went to a poultry judging and was amazed at the variety of chickens there are! So when this swap opened up, I decided to find something along those lines. The stamp involves the curves of the blue ribbon, with a white disk attaching the ribbons. The rooster is painted with Twinkling H20s, but you can't see the shimmer on the picture here.
AQ Carve #104: Peacocks: Single Feather. Experimenting again with layered stamps. I'm still not very good at it!
AQ Carve #105: Lighthouses: Cape Hatteras. I wasn't happy with an earlier lighthouse carve I had done, and I don't care much for this one either! Maybe someday I'll do a carve I like...
AQ Carve #106: Layers: Pop Art Tennis Shoes. Probably my best "layers" carve to date. Separately, you can't tell what the stamp is, but the colors work well together...
AQ Carve #107: John 1:1. In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. Scriptures are so important to me...
AQ Carve #108: Silhouettes: The Ant. The embossing on this card is extremely thick and glossy, which doesn't show up on this picture...
AQ Carve #109: Hats: In Your Easter Bonnet With All the Frills Upon It . The embossing on this card is done with a glittery irridescent black powder. A tiny piece of the ribbon or floral on the hat gets hidden by the punch.
AQ Carve #110: Disney Sidekicks: Tigger. Tigger's tail is mounted on a tri-fold accordian piece of paper so he "bounces" off the card. It worked out very well.
AQ Carve #111: Squiggles in Pink. This swap's instructions were to replicate a background paper. The actual stamping was posted on top of a dark pink cardstock with two brads.
AQ Carve #112: Man's Best Friend: Cocker Spaniel. Most of my furry pets were chihuahuas, but I did have one Cocker. She was extremely obedient and loved tennis balls above all other things. She once sat at point in front of a closet. We finally figured out she wanted us to play the tennis balls that were sealed in a tin can that had never been opened!
AQ Carve #113: It's Folded: Seaside Slide Card . This view shows the carving on the blue paper. The green pieces are pulled out by the tab at the bottom, and the sand dollar and single seashell are just some embossed forms I had. The swap was for foldables or trick cards, so there's a ribbon mechanism inside that pulls both green ends out simultaneously.
AQ Carve #114: Holidays of February: Purim 2013. Purim is the holiday that Jewish people all over the world celebrate to remember how God delivered them from certain death. There is the crown for Queen Esther, "scroll" of Esther (which is read in the synagogue), 3 hamentassen (cookies), a grogger which is used to blot out the name of Hamen, and a mask to show that the Jews were hidden in safety. The Hebrew word is "Purim".
AQ Carve #115: Precious Moments-It's Raining on my Duck!.
AQ Carve #116: Precious Moments-"Jest One Penny".
AQ Carve #117: James Bond-Pierce Brosnan. Two stamps--the 007 and James Bond, plus the perfect background flame paper!
AQ Carve #118: State Quilt Blocks: West Virginia. (shown on the left.) I used similar colors on the next two cards. They are in the family called "inchies" on AQ, except that they aren't! An inchie is a 1" x 1" card. Because these are 2" x 2", someone coined the word "twinchies"...
The patterns are claimed by the states. Just as we have state flowers, birds, etc., we have state quilt squares. And there is more than one pattern per state!
AQ Carve #119: State Quilt Blocks: Wyoming. (shown on the right)
AQ Carve #121: Asian Art: Pagoda. I just love the punch that makes corner insert! I have two, but this one is a little fancier and fits the curving tones of the picture.
AQ Carve #122: Layers: Multi-Layered Floral. It's hard to see the two colors in this scan. The light brown color inside the leaves and petals is actually a second stamp, lined up when stamped to look as if it were colored in...
AQ Carve #123: Alphabet LTC: H is for Horse-Tribal Horse: Flame . Here's one I wish you could see in all its "glory"! I misted the white cardstock with a shimmery coppery color, let it dry and then stamped the image. It really pops out "in person"...
AQ Carve #124: Classic Children's Books: One Fish, Two Fish, Red Fish, Blue Fish. Who doesn't love Dr. Seuss -- and can probably quote most of the book by heart as an adult!
AQ Carve #125: Hometown Church: St Luke's Episcopal, Boone, NC. During college at Appalachian State University, this quaint little chapel was left open 24/7. Since it was right next to the campus, my friends and I often went there in the evenings to pray and worship the Lord. We would go in and find separate seats on different pews and just have quiet prayer times. Often someone would bring some music to play in the background. There were 5 of us, but by the end of an evening, we would look around to see a dozen people had slipped in to join us! I understand that when the college bought the property, it was with the understanding that the church would be able to move that building to another site instead of demolishing it. There's a picture (in the information I included on the back of the card) of the church being moved down main street, and another picture of it in its permanent location. (I can't remember if I included that one on the card.)
